2010 04 Mai_8Today in the garden

All around people are complaining about the weather. Since the beginning of May we’ve had rain, every day. And I love it! Lastnight  a walk in the garden and this really mystical atmosphere and the sound of things dripping all around.  Perhaps rain feels different in the city, grey in grey can be dull but here in the country the moistness and the dim light just sets off the beauty of what’s going on in nature at the moment.

Nature takes the course of least resistance. Birds don’t try to fly, they just fly. Grass doesn’t make plans to grow, it just does. Nothing is forced except from within. As for the rain – there is an art to accepting things as they are and not how you’d like them to be.

This is nature’s lesson – I’m still learning.

The hostas have begun to show their purple spikey heads and one can literally watch them unfold…

And they are such wonderful plants to watch. The Silvery green coming from this dusty purple base… Indeed mauves and greens and olive hues are prevading colours in the garden right now – and the misty haze really accentuates this.

How can one not love spring in the garden… in the rain?
